CIIA Recognition in Argentina
The National Securities Commission (CNV) of Argentina has granted recognition to the international professional certifications promoted by the Argentine Institute of Finance Executives (IAEF), in collaboration with the Association of Certified International Investment Analysts (ACIIA), the European Federation of Financial Analysts Societies (EFFAS) and the Spanish Institute of Finance Executives (IEAF).
The CNV through the General Resolution 706 dated 09/14/2017 has granted recognition to the three training courses promoted by the Instituto Argentino de Ejecutivos de Finanzas (IAEF):
- Certified International Investment Analyst(CIIA) by ACIIA
- Certified European Financial Analyst (CEFA) by EFFAS
- Certified Financial Advisor (AFC) by IEAF
As of 2013 the local regulator CNV (Comisión Nacional de Valores) put in force a new Capital Markets Law (26.831 - "Ley de Mercado de Capitales") which requires registration at the CNV prior to becoming a financial analyst, wealth manager, financial advisor, or similar profession. Now, the three programs with different levels of complexity accredit the qualification requirements required by the law in that country.
As of January 2017, the CNV takes an Examination of Suitability to market agents as a mandatory requirement to access the registration. With the CNV recognition, CIIA certificate holders are enabled to carry out professional financial advisory activities and accredit the qualification requirements settled by the laws of Argentina.Professionals who pass the CIIA examinations areautomatically compliant with the requirement demanded by the regulator to become registered agentsand therefore exempted from the Examination of Suitability required by the National Securities Commission of Argentina.
