The second major event of the AGM was the completion
of the transfer of the ACIIA to Switzerland.
Chocolate and cow bells aside, Switzerland
is best known as the home of numerous
international organisations and banking
houses. 23 intergovernmental organizations,
230 NGO's and a host of other international
organizations and corporations currently
have their headquarters in Switzerland.
The list is as long as it is diverse,
ranging from the International Red Cross
Committee, the World Health Organization,
International Olympic committee and the
World Trade Organisation. At the same
time, Switzerland has over 400 banks and
the financial services industry is one
of the largest sectors of the Swiss economy.
I think that the ACIIA, as an international
association for financial analysts and
investment professionals is going to fit
in perfectly!
The Swiss Financial Analysts Association appreciate
the trust shown by the ACIIA members in choosing
Switzerland as its base and are delighted
at this opportunity to further consolidate
their contribution to the ACIIA. The SFAA is the
ACIIA's largest European
member, and through the work of its training
centre TCIP and the Centre for International
Examinations (CIE), plays a central role
in the ACIIA operations. Already
in 2001, the ACIIA secretariat moved
to Switzerland to work more closely with
the TCIP and CIE. With the ACIIA headquarters now
located at the SFAA offices, the ACIIA will be able to
take advantage of many synergies that
will reduce the costs and improve the
efficiency of the association.
